The 2009 Provincial Championship featured the North and South winning teams from the amalgamated Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League (AMMHL) for the inaugural 2008-09 season. The PAC Timberwolves, North Conference champions, won 3-0 over the Calgary CRAA Blue, South Conference champions, in a best-of-five series in a 2-3 format.

In the previous two Provincials, Minor Midget AAA was a round robin tournament between the host, and the 3 winners from the old RAMHL, SAML and REM leagues.
